In this blog, I have listed 12 areas for you to think about if you are considering beginning the process for your organisation to become ISO 19650 Accredited.

Your first step towards accreditation is the Gap Analysis process. You can use the generated findings report as a checklist to guide you when resolving gaps. https://www.symetri.co.uk/insights/blog/how-do-we-become-bim-iso-19650-2-accredited/
2. Since the Gap Analysis approach includes a Q&A session, you won't waste time or resources creating documentation or processes that are not required for accreditation. There is no need to wait or postpone your journey towards accreditation because Symetri welcomes Gap Analysis at any time.
All your business systems that are connected to BIM or Information Management procedures are evaluated by the LRQA Accreditation. It is a good idea to involve anyone in your business who oversees Quality Assurance or Systems early in the process.
Most businesses nowadays aim to complete accreditation within 10 to 11 months of the initial gap analysis. You can become accredited more quickly, but keep in mind your business's workload and that you must show compliance on a ‘live’ project. For the majority of organisations, this timescale appears reasonable.
Symetri can support you with the LRQA scheme or any others in the market if you need further assistance with developing the necessary documentation or putting processes into place. https://www.symetri.co.uk/buildings-infrastructure/buildings-infrastructure-consultancy/bim-advisory/bim-level-2-accreditation-certification-iso-19650-2/#Services
If your organisation is thinking about investing in ISO 9001 and ISO 19650 Accreditation, our advice is to concentrate on ISO 9001 first because many of the necessary business systems can also support the ISO 19650 scheme. Additionally, LRQA offers ISO 9001 certification support.
One of the assessment areas is to ensure that management and employees have BIM and ISO 19650 awareness. Symetri can provide education courses if required. https://www.symetri.co.uk/training/bim-training-courses/
The scheme considers business context, so if you are not responsible for developing a BIM Execution Plan as an example, this is taken into consideration. The scheme considers the business context, therefore, if you are not in charge of developing a BIM Execution Plan for example, then this will be considered.
Appointing, Lead Appointed, and Appointed functions are supported by the scheme.
The Accreditation will stay current through the annual surveillance process, where you will be informed of any changes, if there are amendments or new standards released.
It is untrue that there will never be another Pre-Qualification Questionnaire for you to complete. It is entirely up to the customer if they want you to fill out a questionnaire, but increasingly, all you need to do to move past the early stages of the bidding process is to present your certification.
Holding accreditation can support additional schemes such as Constructionline.
